A NYC/Liverpool trained vocalist and teacher, Emily Day specializes in jazz, pop, and contemporary musical theatre singing styles. She received her BFA in Vocal Jazz Performance from the New School Jazz and Contemporary Music Program in 2005 and her MA in Popular Music Studies from the University of Liverpool in 2010. Emily’s teaching experience includes several years as a lecturer, private instructor, and adjunct at the University of Vermont, St. Michael’s College, Johnson State College, and the Community College of Vermont. She has provided music direction and vocal coaching for public schools, performing arts camps, and community theatre productions.
Emily worked closely with Bill Reed twice in her life. First when she was a shy 15 year old hoping to audition for musicals at CVU, and next almost 15 years later seeking coaching in classical and contemporary voice, and in career direction. With Bill, not only did she discover her own new vocal abilities, but also gained exposure to active broadway talent and insider know-how. She is indebted to his enthusiastic support of her endeavors.
In the summer of  2012 Emily moved to San Francisco, CA to establish a voice studio and performance career. Since the move she has taught courses at the Jazzschool in Berkeley, Blue Bear Music in San Francisco, the Community Music Center of San Francisco, and the Bay Area Girls Rock Camp in Oakland. She performs jazz regularly in San Francisco and the Bay Area.
